As Christians, we are called to respond to suffering in what seems like contradictory ways.
Christ taught us to pray for and expect miracles, yet he did not promise to deliver us from all suffering in this life.
Although he is God’s beloved son, he personally experienced homelessness, relentless political persecution, repeated death threats, torture, and crucifixion.
Jesus asks us to take up our cross and follow him down what may be a difficult road. But he also promised to bless and comfort those who mourn. He delivers the afflicted by their affliction.
As Christians in healthcare, we can extend Christ’s comfort to our patients, often in counterintuitive, unexpected ways.
Dr. Bob Raschke, a critical care physician, will draw on his experience to help us consider what it means to bring hope the hope of Christ to our patients in the midst of their grief and loss. And, in the process, deepen in our own walk with Him.
As always, we’ll enjoy dinner together and childcare will be provided. Please RSVP here by Wednesday, February 28th. Hope to see you there!
